Course Summary
This course will discuss the basics of ICD-10-CM coding as well as provide a chapter-by-chapter look at codes and guidelines. This can be used as a refresher for coders that want to strengthen their skills in ICD-10-CM coding, or to further develop the skills of healthcare professionals!
Included are 2.5 hours of slides with instructor video that include demonstrations of how to utilize the ICD-10-CM code book, as well as some animated clips to tie into the material. CEUs are approved through 4/30/24 and course must be completed prior to that date to receive the AAPC CEUs.

The course is approved for 2.5 AAPC CEUs for all core credentials and all specialties except CIRCC and CPMS. ICD-10-CM Manual not included. It is strongly encouraged to have a current year ICD-10-CM manual for this course. A free pdf copy of the ICD-10-CM coding manual can be downloaded at the CDC website: https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/icd/icd10cm.htm.

What are the prerequisites for this course? Medical Terminology is recommended for this course.
How long will I have access to the course? We do not have course expiration dates, meaning you will have access for as long as needed. We do not like to use terms like "unlimited" and "lifetime" as we may eventually need to change software vendors or management systems, but you will have access for a minimum of one year.
Are books included? This is an online course with no physical products included.
What is your refund policy? Refunds will be considered if the student/user accessed less than 10% of the online course AND the student/user requests a refund, in writing via email within three business days from the date of the registration (email notification sent). The refunded amount will include a deduction for transaction fees that were incurred.

She has multi-specialty experience in professional coding, auditing, and risk adjustment coding. Victoria has published numerous articles on coding and billing best practices and has spoken at several local, regional, and national events, including HEALTHCON, the national business of healthcare expo. She has been featured on multiple podcasts and has her own dynamic YouTube Channel filled with free coding tips and tricks. Victoria served on the AAPC Chapter Association Board of Directors for years 2020-2022.
I am brand new to ICD-10-CM coding. Now, before taking this course I had tried patient scenario coding and learning by jumping into the deep end of the pool. I did learn quite a bit. Still a novice I jumped into this course. I did well and I have to say, I learned a lot! When I made a mistake and I could finally see the answer it was not only correct codes that were given but the rationale of where to start and how to look them up. THAT is the learning part of this and I love it. I don't want to be spoon fed the answer because you really don't learn by just that.
So, for me, prioritizing/sequencing the codes was what I needed to learn.
Multiple codes and additional characters were also what I learned more about in this course.
So, basically what I learned in this course has added awareness to my new skill set. When coding, I know to ask myself the right questions about what I'm doing.
I still have a long way to go but this was a big step!
